FOR RELEASE: Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project completed

The City of Loveland has completed the Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project, a multi-phase reconstruction effort that modernized aging infrastructure and improved mobility along Madison Avenue. Crews wrapped up the majority of work on Thursday, April 30.

The following was completed:

  • The construction of a new roundabout intersection at 37th Street and Madison Avenue.
  • Widened Madison Avenue to add buffered bike lanes and a center left turn lane.
  • Installed infrastructure improvements to water, stormwater, electric and telecommunications.
  • Addressed remaining concrete sidewalks and driveways at select areas along Madison Avenue.
  • Applied the final layer of asphalt to the road.
  • Applied final striping and signage along Madison Avenue from 29th Street to 37th Street.
  • Partnered with Art in Public Places to install a sculpture by artist Karen Cusolito.

Work around the roundabout

While most of the work along Madison Avenue is completed, a few final items remain. The art sculpture of a dandelion is expected to be powered up later this week following installation of an electric meter, and additional landscaping will be completed after that work is finished. In addition, once the Larimer County Monroe Avenue Bridge Project is complete, crews will return to make concrete repairs within the roundabout. This work will require a temporary closure of the roundabout for approximately three to five days. The City will notify the area again before that closure begins.

About

The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project aims to improve safety, mobility, and infrastructure along a vital north-south route between 29th and 37th Streets. As one of the city’s most traveled corridors, Madison Avenue connects neighborhoods, schools, parks, and major arterials, including US 287. This project will modernize the corridor by adding buffered bike lanes, new sidewalks, and a new roundabout at 37th Street—all designed to support safer travel for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. In addition to improving traffic flow, the project will add a feature of public art by Art in Public Places.

Project Funding

The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project is funded through a combination of the City of Loveland’s General Fund and Capital Expansion Fees (CEFs). From 2019 to 2024, approximately 20% of the project funding came from the General Fund, while the remaining 80% was provided through CEFs. Appropriations for the project began in 2019, with design services completed in 2021. The construction contract was awarded in May 2025, following a competitive bidding process.
