FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Madison Avenue closes for final improvements on April 6
LOVELAND, Colo. – March 30, 2026 – The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project will enter its final phase of work with a full four-week roadway closure beginning Monday, April 6. This closure will allow crews to safely and efficiently complete remaining concrete work and the final layer of asphalt. Madison Avenue will be closed from 29th Street to 37th Street, with local access limited to adjacent property owners.
During the closure, the following will be completed:
- Address remaining concrete sidewalk and driveways at select areas along Madison Avenue.
- Apply the final layer of asphalt to the road.
- Apply final striping along Madison Avenue from 29th Street to 37th Street.
The City of Loveland completed the following project milestones last year:
- The construction of a new roundabout intersection at 37th Street and Madison Avenue.
- Widened Madison Avenue to add buffered bike lanes and a center left turn lane.
- Installed infrastructure improvements to water, stormwater, electric and telecommunications.
Traffic will detour to north Boise Avenue, 37th Street, Monroe Avenue and up to the Madison Avenue closure while the roadway is closed.

After the closure work is completed, drivers should be aware that there may be temporary single lane closures along Madison Avenue for seeding, landscape and the installation of a sculpture at the center of the roundabout. The sculpture, funded by Art in Public Places, should be completed in June.

About
The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project aims to improve safety, mobility, and infrastructure along a vital north-south route between 29th and 37th Streets. As one of the city’s most traveled corridors, Madison Avenue connects neighborhoods, schools, parks, and major arterials, including US 287. This project will modernize the corridor by adding buffered bike lanes, new sidewalks, and a new roundabout at 37th Street—all designed to support safer travel for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. In addition to improving traffic flow, the project will add a feature of public art by Art in Public Places. While majority of work will be completed in early May, the project will be fully completed in June.
Project Funding
The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project is funded through a combination of the City of Loveland’s General Fund and Capital Expansion Fees (CEFs). From 2019 to 2024, approximately 20% of the project funding came from the General Fund, while the remaining 80% was provided through CEFs. Appropriations for the project began in 2019, with design services completed in 2021. The construction contract was awarded in May 2025, following a competitive bidding process.
