FOR RELEASE: Madison Avenue between 29th and 37th Streets reopens to traffic
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Madison Avenue between 29th and 37th Streets reopens to traffic
LOVELAND, Colo. – Dec. 23, 2025 – A major milestone has arrived for the Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project. Following six months of construction, Madison Avenue between 29th and 37th streets will reopen this afternoon, restoring access before the holidays. While some work will continue in spring 2026 as weather allows, the corridor is ready to get the community moving again.
The City of Loveland completed the following project milestones:
The addition of a roundabout and a full reconstruction of the 37th Street and Madison Avenue intersection.
Widening Madison Avenue to add buffered bike lanes and a center left turn lane.
Upgrades to water, stormwater, electric and telecommunications.
The scale of construction was significant, requiring enough cement to cover the equivalent of five football fields, more than 7,400 tons of asphalt, and over 9,100 feet of new curb and gutter to complete the corridor improvements to date.
Due to upcoming winter weather disruptions and the holiday period, when motorist activity typically increases, the remaining work will be completed once temperatures are consistent and asphalt and concrete have adequate time to cure. To finish this work, Madison Avenue will be temporarily closed in spring 2026. Announcements will be shared with the public before the closure. While the roadway might look complete, temporary signage will be placed in the areas where work is still needed. Commuters should be advised to use caution while they are navigating the area.
In spring 2026, the road will temporarily shut down for approximately two weeks to finish the following:
Remaining concrete sidewalk at select areas along Madison Avenue
Colored concrete at Seven Lakes Drive
Remaining residential driveways
Top lift of asphalt
Final striping
Seeding and landscaping
Art installation at the center of the roundabout

About
The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project aims to improve safety, mobility, and infrastructure along a vital north-south route between 29th and 37th Streets. As one of the city’s most traveled corridors, Madison Avenue connects neighborhoods, schools, parks, and major arterials, including US 287. This project will modernize the corridor by adding buffered bike lanes, new sidewalks, and a new roundabout at 37th Street—all designed to support safer travel for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. In addition to improving traffic flow, the project will add a feature of public art by Art in Public Places. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
Project Funding
The Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project is funded through a combination of the City of Loveland’s General Fund and Capital Expansion Fees (CEFs). From 2019 to 2024, approximately 20% of the project funding came from the General Fund, while the remaining 80% was provided through CEFs. Appropriations for the project began in 2019, with design services completed in 2021. The construction contract was awarded in May 2025, following a competitive bidding process.
