Upcoming temporary closures and nighttime work for July
In an effort to advance construction of the US 34 and Taft Avenue Intersection Improvements project, asphalt work will take place in the center of the intersection at
US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard and North Taft Avenue on Wednesday, July 9, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To be able to perform the work, eastbound and westbound US 34 will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the work zone during this time.
Additionally, North Taft Avenue will be closed on the south side of the intersection beginning at 1st Street. The closure of the southern portion is temporary and will be in place until 3 p.m. Local access will be maintained for residents and delivery drivers. For all commuting traffic, they will use North Van Buren Avenue, 8th Street heading westbound and 1st Street. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to use these alternative routes to avoid congestion and maintain safety in the area.
Night work will also begin on US 34 over the next few days to minimize daytime disruption. Crews will be milling and repaving US 34 from Westshore Drive to Prospect Avenue. To complete this work safely, US 34 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone.
Upcoming Night Work Schedule
