Remaining concrete work along US 34 scheduled for May 12 and 13

Phase 3b of the US 34 and Taft Intersection Improvement project is nearing completion. The remaining work along US 34 from Westshore Drive to Wendy’s is scheduled for Monday, May 12 through Tuesday, May 13. For this work to be completed, temporary closures will be in place at the south entrances of the Safeway shopping center and Westshore Drive. To facilitate this work, a new traffic control plan will be in place along US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard and Taft Avenue. Working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic impacts begin Monday, May 12:

• Crews will remove asphalt on US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard in front of the Village Inn Shopping Center. Milling and paving operations are scheduled for Monday, May 12 through Tuesday, May 13.
• Westshore Drive will be closed at US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard.
• The westbound right turn lane will be closed at the intersection. N. Taft Avenue will be reduced to one through lane in each direction—northbound and southbound.
• The south entrance to the Safeway shopping center on US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard, located between Wendy’s and Chipotle, will be closed to traffic on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13. Vehicles exiting the shopping center will be redirected to the N. Taft Avenue exit while crews complete repaving the single lane on US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard.

During this time, commuters should expect delays and are urged to drive with caution and observe posted speeds in the work zone.
