Construction Update: February 13

Hello Loveland!

Here are our project updates and a look at upcoming work.

Crews have been busy since work kicked into high gear in mid-January. They have installed erosion controls, removed trees, potholed, drilled dewatering wells to manage groundwater, installed manholes and more recently completed the first phase of bypass pumping. Work now continues with excavating and trenching for installation of the first segments of new pipeline.

Upcoming Work and Traffic Impacts

• Monday, Feb. 16:Westbound access on East First Avenue will be closed to allow crews to allow construction crews to begin surface preparation and demolition ahead of pipeline construction on First Street. Eastbound traffic and local access will remain open.
  • Detour: Westbound traffic traveling to First Street will be detoured east on First Street, which becomes Corvus Drive and then East Fifth Street, to North Boyd Lake Avenue, then north to U.S. 34/East Eisenhower Boulevard, west to Denver Avenue and back south to First Street.
• Beginning mid- to late February: First Street is expected to be fully closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic to allow construction crews to install a wastewater pipeline beneath the roadway. The closure will remain in place for approximately three to four weeks, weather permitting. Local resident and business access will remain.
  • Eastbound detour: Eastbound traffic on First Street will be detoured north on Denver Avenue, east on US 34/Eisenhower Boulevard, and south on North Boyd Lake Avenue.
  • Westbound detour: Westbound traffic traveling to First Street will be routed east on First Street (which becomes Corvus Drive and then Fifth Street) to North Boyd Lake Avenue, then north to US 34/ Eisenhower Boulevard, west to Denver Avenue, and south back to First Street.

Working hours

Weather permitting, work activities are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional Saturday work needed.
