Weekly project update 10/19 - 10/25/26

Hello Stakeholders!

Here are the project updates for the week of 10/19/26-10/25/26:

  • Block 5 (Garfield to Railroad Ave.)
    • Vehicle access will be limited to Garfield Ave. only.
  • Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad crossing & 4th Street
    • Access across the BNSF railroad tracks is fully closed to vehicles.
    • Pedestrian crossings at the tracks are shifting; please follow posted signage.
    • Crews will be paving at the Railroad Avenue (west) intersection and adjacent west parking lots. Please follow posted signage.
  • Block 4 (Cleveland to Railroad Ave.)
    • Open to traffic with limited southbound access at Railroad Ave. (east)
    • Vehicle access will be limited to Cleveland Ave. (only) on Wednesday, October 21st (weather dependent) for striping on Railroad Ave. (east) between E. 3rd and E. 4th
    • Stone Mountain/Aims parking lot will be fully closed Wednesday, October 21st for parking lot maintenance
  • Blocks 1, 2, 3 and 5
    • Permanent sculptures will be installed, which may require the temporary closure of parking spots to accommodate equipment.
  • Block 3 (Lincoln to Cleveland) (non-project related work)
    • Sidewalk closure at 225 E. 4th Street; please follow posted signage.
  • Painter’s Alley (non-project related work)
    • The alley will remain closed in both directions. Trenching on the east side will be completed. Flow fill will be poured over all open trenches; through‑traffic will remain closed, but approximately 75% of the alley will be open for access.
    • One new 5’x3’ vault will be installed. Crews will trench the north side of the alley and install conduit from the 7’×14’ vault to a new 5’×3’ vault. Service conduits will be bored to the individual meters behind each business.
    • The first "cutover," or switch from the old to the new power source, is scheduled for Friday. The building at 140 E 4th St will be fed power from the new transformers.
